If the watch is going to be worn for daily use, classical watches are the best option. If you need it for self expression and esteem, then designer watches would suit you the best. Sports watches are good for active participation and sports events. Water proof watches serve the best purpose for water activities like diving. Buying a watch for a lady needs her decision as well. Women count the watches as an important part of their complete dressing. So watch should be in sync with the dressing. A kid’s watch should be beautiful eye catching and colorful. Teenagers want their watches to be stylish and classy. Some considerations should be kept in mind regardless of the purpose of the watch.

1. Machinery – the machinery of a watch should be durable and consistent in working. Those who have earned recognition for their watches, no doubt, concentrate most on the instruments and parts of the watches. Japanese and Swiss watches are famous for their durable watch machinery. Japanese companies are known for the machinery and devices especially for digital watches. Casio comes under this group at the top.

2. Metals and materials- five different stuffs are used in the manufacturing of watches. The difference mainly lies in the durability, strength and cost. The most expensive of all is stainless steel. Brass is also counted in this class. High-status watches are prepared using stainless steel and brass. Plastic is counted in a low class watch group. Costly watches like Casio use plastic as their basic material. Low-priced imitations are also manufactured using plastic. So careful observation is needed towards the brand name while buying a plastic watch. Go to only reputable and renowned manufacturers. Aluminum is also utilized for the preparation of inexpensive and short-term watches. Similar is the case with Titanium alloys. They are of good quality but don’t have a broad variety. So whenever you are going to buy a watch with titanium casing verification is necessary. Several chemicals are added in these metals which are the reason of the flimsiness and delicacy of these cases. They are more prone to blemishes and scratches.

3. Wristlet- several different things are kept in mind while deciding about the wrist band of the watch. You can take start from the style and design of the bracelet. Particularly ladies give special concentration to the design. Leather wristlets are considered very suitable and are very flexible. But the metal wrist bands are long lasting than the leather made bands. Metal wrist bands are of two kinds, the entire metal which are more costly and other one is mixed.

4. Coatings- any varnish, paint or coating is wiped out with the passage of time. The coatings of stones and steel are longer lasting than the gold coverings. The worst coating which may be used is the varnish. Chinese producers are more experts in this type of coating. Therefore the watch is not covered and protected. so watches of stainless steel, titanium or brass alloys are better options.

5. Glass – clock face and pointers should be covered and sheltered from external effects. Glasses are divided into three classes. First type of glass is made of plastic and is named as plexiglass and it is least costly. It is a bit fragile and has less resistance against damages but is not torn. The other one is made of crystal and called tempered glass. It is more protective against damages but more delicate. The third one is artificial sapphire which is most resistant against damages and scratches. But it is most costly of all the three as well.

6. Sturdiness – the strength of the device to defend against the fall on tough surface. It is a standard that all the watches should be resistant enough against shocks.

7. Water resistance- a watch is water tight when it resists the entrance of water at its maximum. Most of the water resistant watches bear up small amounts of water. This is because they don’t have padding for the protection from the water. They are unstable in heavy waters. But sports watches are quite different which are intended specifically for the diving purposes. They can hold up deep waters of 100 meters.
