Wedding rings are the heart of the marriages particularly when we talk about Christian weddings. These rings signify agreement, love, and promise to your life partner. But these rings also hold a history with them. The history of wedding rings is a sold as the weddings themselves, with no start or closing stages.

The history of them is just like the rings themselves: it has no beginning and no end. Exclusive of a correct particular time of their origin, weddings rings were first reported by ancient Romans. These rings which were simply “rings" symbolized to “bind" people not only with their own societal rank, but with their life partners as well. Specially done in the engagement rituals, the groom gifts a simple iron ring to the bride's relatives as a sign of his promise to economically stay besides the bride. The question may arise that why the engagement formal procedure not wedding rituals, the answer is because the engagement is more ornately illustrious than the wedding.

The practice of these rings and engagement rings originated from very old age when the men used to tie something on the waist, wrist or ankle of a lady to tell her that he loves her. And he wants her to love him. The practice became famous many years later when Roman Christians started these engagement rings and included them in weddings. It seems so amazing to listen that a ritual which was basically so pagan got popularity in the Christian religion.

Christian wedding rings are also similar in implication and purpose from these betrothal rings. Today the groom presents the ring to his bride rather than the bride's relatives. This practice has the same intentions and meanings showing his promise to his wife not only to support her economically but also to give her the love and care. This practice also means that groom and the bride declaring their relationship. The difference here is that the bride is also involved now in the commitment.

Christian rings of weddings are not just the simple iron rings like those which the Romans used. Roman rings were simple and made of either gold or silver. Nowadays, other metals like titanium and platinum are also being used for rings. Now they are not so simple like the rings used in past rather you can find very complex and intricate designs which are made utilizing the most striking stones and metals available in the market.

The Christian rings used on their weddings have left the conservative rings in the past. Recently some Christians used tattoos on their rings. However some Christian priests are against it. But the main point is that the purpose of these rings is still the same; loyalty and promise to the life partner. Fashions change and people’s tastes and preferences go on changing as well. But one thing never changes which is the meaning and purpose of these rings which they bring.
